Caras nuevas.....

Primero que nada, disculpas porque la crónica sale tarde. He tenido problemas de ordenador, ya sabéis como puede ser esto.....

El lunes pasado tuvimos una visita desde Boston, U.S.A. así que la quedada fue completamente bilingüe o más bien, trilingüe... se escuchaba mucho inglés, catalán y castellano!

Karen nos visitaba desde la ciudad de Boston, Estados Unidos. Es su primera vez en Barcelona y parecía muy contenta. estaba tejiendo unos calcetines en color verde. La lana, Alpaca Socks de Classic Elite. Tenía una pinta estupenda! El patrón es el Diamond Waffle de Knitty.com. Karen es muy simpática y agradable. Nos estuvo hablando de su trabajo y experiencias en la revista Threads. Compartimos historias sobre la lana de los dos lados del charco y de la famosa feria Rhinebeck. Fue un placer tenerla y esperamos verla de nuevo.




Marga continúa tejiendo el gorro con lana Kauni. Lo lleva bastante avanzado y se puede apreciar el cambio de colores de la lana. A pesar de la "mala fama" que lleva la lana "por ahí", me encanta y espero encontrar un proyecto para usarla pronto. Definitivamente está en mi lista "To Do" (por hacer..)




Sunsun trabajaba en unos calcetines a los que bautizamos como los "Brother-friend socks" ya que el patrón es el famoso Boyfriend Socks, pero son para su hermano. Utiliza lana para calcetín Regia strech en color marrón. (Otra para la lista!)



Nutsue avanza con el Foliage Shawl con lana hilada por ella. Le está quedando genial! También dijo que tendría que hilar un poco más para poder acabarlo. Ojo.. hilando con huso! Definitivamente, todo una artista!!!



Martin's casi tiene acabado su Top-down Baby Jacket con lana de Ovillos. Comentó que ha comenzado a hacer patchwork también y como no, una colchita para la cuna hecha con cuadrados que compró en un viaje, hechos por manos creativas de la Isla San Blás en la costa de Panamá. No se salva de traerla a una de las quedadas! Definitivamente una futura mamá muy creativa y guapa!



Albis comenzaba unos Calcetínes Capricho que serán tejidos todos con punto del derecho. Utiliza lana de Schoppel Wolle.



También nos visitó Noemí por primera vez. Estaba comenzando el Seas Shawl con una lana lila comprada en La Droguerie. Esperamos verla por BK otra vez!






Y por último yo, PitiKnitz, me dediqué más a conversar con Karen que a tejer. Sigo sin terminar los Baby Jackets para mis sobrinos que pronto cumplirán un mes de haber nacido! Pero espero tenerlos para cuando vaya a conocerlos. De cualquier manera, me llevé varias sorpresas. Marga me regaló una lana para hilar con mis colores favoritos que pronto empezaré a hilar y Nutsue me trajo la lana Peach que hiló para mí. Desde luego una Nutsue/Pitiknitz Production estupenda! Yo teñí y ella hiló!




Y siguiendo con mi colección de chales, el Flower Basket Shawl acabado junto con el Baby Jacket en construcción.


El próximo lunes es fiesta, pero ya está organizada la quedada extraordinaria. Detalles en la columna derecha.

First of all, my apologizes for the late post. I've had technical difficulties, you all must know what that's like.

Last Monday we had a visitor from Boston, Mass., U.S.A so our stitch-'n-bitch was really tri-lingual. You could hear English, Catalan, and Spanish spoken in the same conversation.
It was Karen's first visit to Barcelona and she seemed to be having a great time! While she tried to knit the Diamond Waffle socks with Classic Elite's Alpaca Socks yarn she told us about her experiences working for Threads magazine. Rhinebeck was also mentioned during the conversation and of course, yarn was a main topic amongst us knitters on both sides of the "pond". She's a terrific gal and we sure hope to see her again sometime!

Marga continued work on her hat with Kauni yarn. Sure looks like a great yarn to try out sometime soon! Color combination is terrific.

Sunsun was working on her "Brother-friend socks", the Boyfriend Sock pattern renamed in honor of the intended recepient.

Nutsue, never ceasing to amaze us, brought her Foliage Shawl to work on. She mentioned she will stop knitting soon in order to spin some more wool to have enough to finish the shawl. This particular wool is being spun on a spindle. She is an amazing artist!

Martin's is almost done with her Baby Jacket. She's also taken up patchwork and is currently making a crib quilt with appliqued blocks she bought off some woman from the San Blas islands off-the coast of Panama. We sure hope she brings it by for show-and-tell. Pregnancy sure suits her! She looks great!

Albis started on her "Whim Socks". She wants to make them just using a knit stitch. Her yarn, Schoppel Wolle.

Noemí also visited us for the first time. She was starting on the Seas Shawl using a lavander yarn she bought at France's La Droguerie. We're hoping she becomes a regular to the group.

I, PitiKnitz, really didn't get much done knit-wise this time. I spent all my time talking with Karen, sharing all kinds of things. I was also greatly suprised by Marga who gave me some wool dyed in my favorite colors. I intend to start spinning it real soon. Nutsue also brought the outocome of our Nutsue/PitiKnitz production, Peach. I dyed the wool, she fell in love and offered to spin it. Not a bad deal and it defintively turned out great!

I also brought my finished Flower Basket Shawl to show everyone and tried to knit a couple of rows on the Baby Jacket sweaters for my nearly one-month-old nephews! Hopefully I'll get to finish them before I go home to meet them.

Monday is a holiday, but the extemporaneous stitch-'n-bitch has already been organized. More details on the right-hand side column.
